3 Prioritise the ‘Wildly Important’

3 Prioritise the ‘Wildly Important’

Sometimes you hear people say, ‘I have five priority one things to do, seventeen priority two things and forty nine priority three things.’  While that’s one way to prioritise, we’re going to use a much tighter definition than that.

So – take your list of ‘Wildly Important’ things and ask, ‘If I could only do one thing on this list, what would it be?’  That becomes your #1 priority.  You then take the remaining list and ask the question again.  ‘If I could only do one thing what would it be?’  That becomes your #2 priority.  Then you take the remaining list, ask the question again and so on until the list is prioritized.

And finally, you can’t have a joint priority – a 7A and 7B, for example. Each item is either more important or less important than each other item. You have to call it.

Do that now.
