Welcome to Fast Projects
Do you know of any project management method(ology) that’s correlated with project success i.e. where use of the method has been shown to lead to success?
We don’t – except our own – The Ten Steps.
You don’t have to take our word for it.
“I have been using Fergus O’Connell’s project management methodology for over 20 years. I have used it on small projects, I have used it on big projects, I have used it on massive projects where the stakes exceeded $1B. It works. To me, Fergus has developed a system that doesn’t fail so long as you follow some very simple steps. I bow in honor of the man who helped make my career and my reputation for getting hard stuff done.”
– Kevin Barrett, SVP & CIO, Elan Corporation (retired)
You can see who we’ve taught this method to here.
Here are 7 things about it:
- It works. It’s been around now since 1991. Nobody’s ever called us up and said, ‘I did it and it didn’t work.’
- It’s common sense. No heavy duty project management methodologies. You focus on getting the project done rather than servicing the methodology.
- It’s light. It’s simple to understand, easy to learn, and not documentation- or bureaucracy-heavy.
- It’s best practice. They are things that are common to all successful projects and things which are common to all failed projects. This method harnesses the positive things and reduces the effect of the negative things.
- It’s scaleable. Down to the smallest of projects and up to the largest.
- It’s a recipe. For a sucessful project. Whenever you’re given a project, the drill is always the same. Just follow the steps in the method.
- It describes ‘necessary and sufficient conditions’ for a successful project. ‘Necessary’ – you have to do these things; ‘sufficient’ – you don’t have to do anything else.
